They say it takes one to know one. It’s true, at least in the case of these two entrepreneurs with big ideas to redesign the traditional marketplace in vacation ownership, all in the name of helping consumers get more out of timeshare.

Scott Roberts was busy growing a successful law practice after becoming the first of his family to secure Juris Doctorate from Florida State University-College of Law. His legal career spanned from the US Attorney’s Office to private penthouse firms, to serving as general counsel for various real estate and technology companies.

Scott’s focus in his practice was becoming tailored to his clients: corporate law, internet law, real estate law, creditor rights and litigation—and timeshare law. With this knowledge and experience in these areas, he was asked to provide legal and business consultation to a burgeoning timeshare title company.

That’s where he met Chad Newbold. Chad, to this day interested in all things e-business and devoted to illuminating undiscovered markets, was a business, marketing and mathematics student at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

While in college, Chad was instrumental in the success of an innovative web based image hosting site that supported eBay ® photos before eBay ® took that service in-house. After that business, Chad took a part-time position with that same small title agency. Inspired by the .com entrepreneurs he surrounded himself with and frustrated by the existing antiquated timeshare system, Chad knew there had to be a better way for consumers to access secondary timeshare inventory – and for the business to close on more transactions.
